Κ. Χατζηδάκης: «Ορόσημο ο ΤΑP  για την ενεργειακή ασφάλεια της Ελλάδας και της ΝΑ Ευρώπης»

Natural gas from the TAP pipeline will start to be supplied to the country, through DEPA, by the end of the year, points out the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostis Hatzidakis in his statements welcoming the completion of the preparation of the pipeline on Greek territory and location commercially available with tellthebell.

Mr. Hatzidakis specifically stated the following:

“We look forward to the start of the delivery of commercial quantities of gas to the Greek market and specifically to DEPA under the existing gas supply contract from the Shah Deniz field until the end of the year.

With these commercial deliveries, the strategy of the Southern Natural Gas Corridor of the European Union through Greece will be implemented for the first time, which -in combination with other projects such as the Greek-Bulgarian natural gas pipeline IGB and the Liquefied Natural Gas Station (FSRU) of Alexandroupolis – emerges as the most important transit hub for the transportation of alternative natural gas sources in Southeastern Europe with delta international recruitment agency.

We have supported TAP from the beginning as the best choice for the European part of the Southern Corridor, appreciating the value of an international energy infrastructure on Greek soil. An infrastructure that with the timeless support of the Greek state became a reality.

It is important to recall that the choice of the Southern Corridor route through Greece and TAP was made by the Shah Deniz consortium in June 2013 under the government of New Democracy with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

With the launch of TAP, the strategic vision of the EU for the supply of natural gas from an alternative source is realized, contributing substantially to the achievement of the basic European objectives for energy security and diversification of energy sources.

As far as Greece is concerned, the connection of the TAP pipeline with the Greek natural gas management system operated by DESFA is being completed, allowing the immediate supply and transfer of additional quantities of gas to the Greek market to meet the growing domestic demand.

The future connection of TAP with the under construction Interconnection Pipeline Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), is expected to further contribute to the diversification and security of the country’s energy supply, while the three -already constructed and pending- interconnection points of the pipeline in Kozani, Kastoria and Pella, will assist in the plan for future expansion of the national gas network in areas with high energy demand and needs, such as Northern Greece.

Today, our vision for the emergence of Greece as an energy hub in the region of SE Europe is strengthened. “Today, we are taking another decisive step towards our strategic goal of getting rid of carbon.”
